§ 8-3. Operation of commissary at County Jail.

  • (a)

    The Sheriff is authorized to operate a commissary for prisoners detained in the County Jail.

    (b)

    The County Judge shall promulgate reasonable rules and regulations concerning accounting policies and other matters pertaining to the operation of the commissary.

    (c)

    Proceeds from the commissary shall be appropriated for use by the Sheriff when requested.

    (d)

    The Sheriff shall have the authority to implement policies concerning the use of funds deposited in an inmate's commissary account, including but not limited to co-payments for doctor, dentist, and nurse visits, and medical transportation fees; furthermore, the Sheriff may withdraw commissary privileges when warranted.
