§ 5-22. Emergency medical services established.

  • (a)

    A system of emergency medical services is hereby established for all of the unincorporated areas of Washington County, except for the area currently covered by the Springdale Fire and Ambulance Service, and for all the incorporated cities in Washington County, except for the City of Springdale and the area north of Main Street in the City of Johnson.

    (b)

    This service shall be owned and operated by the County and the aforestated cities under the auspices of the Washington County Regional Ambulance Authority.

    (c)

    The system established will be that same service as now provided by Central Emergency Medical Service, Inc., which shall become merged, owned and operated by the County and the aforestated cities.

    (d)

    The estimated cost of the service is six million five hundred thousand dollars ($6,500,000.00) per year and shall be funded by sales tax or other revenues of the cities and the County in addition to the fees to be charged to the recipients of services.
