§ 12-22. Installation of proper drainage tile.

  • Every individual, organization or business whose driveway connects to a county road shall install drainage tile of adequate size as determined by the County Road Superintendent. Such tile shall be capable of carrying the flow of water along a road ditch during times of heavy rain. Such tile shall be furnished by the owner or resident and may be purchased from the County (or from another source) at the expense of the owner or resident. If tile is purchased from Washington County, payments shall be cash at the time of purchase, except where another payment schedule may be approved by the County Judge's office. The tile may be installed by the County. There shall be no charge for such installation by the County. Should the County Road Superintendent determine that an existing tile is not adequate, he shall cause the occupant of the land on which the driveway is located, to be notified that adequate drainage tile must be installed. The occupant shall have ninety (90) days from receipt of the notice to make arrangements for installation of adequate drainage tile.
